GroveCanada...Welcome to the Lost City of Tempura, where art is breaded & fried...(this is my tongue in cheek title, inspired by an attempt to describe Engine Gallery's owner's painting...Sari said "this reminds me of the Lost City of...of...& the owner piped up "Of Tempura?" I was thinking Atlantis, I have no idea where he got Tempura from, but when he blurted it out he realised how ludicrous a city named Tempura was, & then we laughed & imagined a city where everything was breaded & fried including the art, like tempura...(a metaphor...ok it was hilarious at the time...) or visit any one of these GroveCanada websites to see art & more... Sunshine...Rain...Where's my rainbow? she says...instead of sulking about getting wet...

Free of galleries...

Free of the need to be with a gallery...

Finally, back to the beginning, but better, knowing why...

Ah, freedom...

I Hate working with galleries...

Wow, I am so happy...the unbearable lightness...

here are a few works to peek at, plus me, before running season so be nice...( a little winter chubby...)
below is a painting titled "Windy Sea Cove, curled up with cat"...
It's a sold, 24 by 36 inch oil on linen, original by me, Sari Grove, about some windy accidents that happened...A NFL player was in a small boat that flipped off the coast of Florida (with some friends), a Chinese fishing boat was slung low in the water & having some difficulty, a helicopter crashed off the coast of Newfoundland...I had been noticing wind related climactic change & layered the painting several times with new subject, as they happened...It has metallic in dammar, so it is very hard to photograph...The colours shift with the light...The silhouette of a woman curled up with her cat also mimics the shape off the Newfoundland coast...The painting is a warning to stay home & curl up with your cat because the wind is dangerous...This was worked on in the year 2009...Maybe about 4 months or so, off & on...The child-like frame was added for a show in an art school, where children also learned about art, with some late blooming adults too... A very very nice painting which my mother decided she wanted for her private collection, so...Who is to argue with mothers??? (I got a fancy schmancy lunch at The National Club in Toronto, which is a very private nice place for a lunch...Members only so it was a real treat for me to see how corporate Canada dines...)(Plus, I now have a new & most excellent connection...)
